The purpose behind the Peace Rocks
These are not simply decorative rocks. They are reminders of what matters most: peace within, compassion for others, respect for those who served, and practical ways to help people rebuild their lives.
In a world marked by conflict and rising division, the Peace Rocks Campaign is meant to stand for something gentler and stronger. It honours all veterans by recognizing the cost of war and the value of peace. It invites communities to unite around something tangible, meaningful, and hopeful. And it offers those who are homeless the opportunity to contribute, create, and earn with dignity.
A message at the heart of it all
One rock may remind you what you love. Another may remind you who you are.
Each design can feature themes people already connect with-pets, sports, vehicles, nature, symbols of peace, and words of encouragement-so that peace is introduced through something familiar and loved.

Each Peace Rock connects to something people already love-cars, pets, sports, and nature- making peace feel familiar, personal, and meaningful.
How the campaign works
The campaign is designed to be simple, practical, and repeatable within any city or community group.
Source and prepare the rocks
Rocks are selected, cleaned, dried, and prepared for painting or design application.
Paint and apply designs
Participants paint the rocks, apply decals or imagery.
Seal for durability
Each rock is sealed with a clear finish to protect the artwork and prepare it for retail presentation.
Package with purpose
The rocks are paired, packaged, and labelled so the buyer understands the mission behind each purchase.
Sell through community partners
Products are offered through community events, partner organizations, Legion branches, and retail opportunities.
Share proceeds back into the community
From every sale, a set amount supports the Royal Canadian Legion and local hospitals.
Why homeless involvement matters
This campaign is not only about what is sold. It is about who gets included in the process.
People experiencing homelessness often need more than shelter-they need opportunity, belonging, and the chance to contribute in a meaningful way. By involving them in painting, assembling, sealing, packaging, and preparing the Peace Rocks for sale, the campaign creates work that is both creative and restorative.

What is required to make it happen
The Peace Rocks Campaign can begin modestly, then grow city by city as community partners come on board.
- Workspace: a safe, clean area for painting, assembly, drying, and packing.
- Materials: rocks, paint, brushes, sealant, decals or printed images, and packaging supplies.
- Volunteers or coordinators: people to guide the workflow, quality control, and community outreach.
- Community partners: shelters, the Royal Canadian Legion, churches, service groups, local businesses, and hospitals.
- Retail pathway: online sales, local events, Legion branches, gift shops, community tables, and possible store partnerships.
- Clear financial model: tracked income, participant pay, material costs, and per-sale donations.

- Organza or mesh bags: soft presentation for small event sales

The long-term vision
The Peace Rocks Campaign can begin in one city as a pilot project and expand into other communities. Each community can adapt the model while keeping the same heart: peace, dignity, remembrance, and giving back.
The goal is simple but powerful-to take something small enough to fit in the hand and use it to carry something large enough to touch the heart.
